~ The trend.. to shun and run from those that are hurting.. to condemn them because they are raining on our sunny day..
until injustice camps on our lawn and harasses our family coming and going..
It requires a balance of sunshine and rain, but in either case, keeping our focus on Christ no matter which we find ourselves having to weather.. makes us able to minister in any season of life. I love... how Alistair Begg talked about walking with one foot in Scripture and one in the culture so that we can share the goodness of God effectively.
Yes, another person's pain and difficulties are stressful.. it's so easy to quit on that relationship and run from them to some peaceful meadow or wood or party at the creek.. but that's the beauty of the love of Jesus. He left his glory and holy realm to emerge himself fully, unto death, to take on the stress and difficulties and messiness of those lost and hurting in the darkness. Even when they brought it on themselves. You and me.
This is not the time for paradise.
This is a time of warfare and of saving ppl from death.
Are we gonna be about the Father's business or not?
~ "Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God."
(Hebrews 2)
~ His Word shall not fail you—He promised;
Believe Him, and all will be well:
Then go to a world that is dying,
His perfect salvation to tell!
(Helen H. Lemmel, 1922)
~ Through death into life everlasting
He passed, and we follow Him there;
O’er us sin no more hath dominion—
For more than conqu’rors we are!
~ O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There’s light for a look at the Savior,
And life more abundant and free!
~ Word for the Church... from several voices lately... brought this song to mind.. so much truth.. so much wisdom and encouragement.. clear direction of taking our thoughts captive, self control and right attitude, rather than denial and turning a deaf ear to those suffering from injustice and attack... focusing on ...Christ is that assurance that he sees all things and is working on our behalf.. we remain active in the battle, but peace rules and reigns over our heart and mind because we know he is Lord of all, lover, friend, father, brother, provider, protector, healer, comforter...
"Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace."
