~ "All of us who were engaged in the struggle must have observed frequent instances of superintending providence in our favor. To that kind providence we owe this happy opportunity of consulting in peace on the means of establishing our future national felicity.
And have we now forgotten that powerful friend? Or do we imagine that we no longer need his assistance?
I have lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth-that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the Ground without his Notice, is it probable that an Empire can rise without his Aid?"
Benjamin Franklin, To Colleagues at the Constitutional Convention
~ I just love our Founding Fathers... such powerful men.. such men of God.. despite their areas of issues.. who are we to judge the extent of God's conviction in their lives, or the measure of freedom they were at peace with God about.. who among us is without sin.. even the Fathers of the Faith such as Abraham and Peter and David and every single one.. they walked a messy walk at times, and yet it was the mercy and discipline of God that drew their heart to repentance to perform the will of God for our witness and example. The spirit of God drew them.. but they chose each time to get back on the path.. they fought the good fight of faith.. sometimes fighting themselves, their own weaknesses and yet willing to kill portions of themselves that drew them away from God.. we are to seek to be perfect, to desire it, to beat our bodies into subjection if necessary.. all the while knowing that there is none perfect but Christ.. I pray I never reach a point to where all men speak well of me.. because that is a sure sign that I have compromised something.. altho.. I don't think I will ever have to worry about that.. lolol
~ I have heard many an atheist and scholar try to discount the faith of many of the founding fathers based on their areas of weakness or their rebellion against doctrines of the church or their personal search to understand truth.. but such ppl fail to acknowledge such documented professions of faith from their own lips and personal diaries. Makes me wonder how many of us would be labeled as NOT CHRISTIAN if our lives were put under the microscope by such critics..
~ As we approach the end times according to Scripture.. deception is going to be like never before.. and words are going to be used and abused, twisted and manipulated. There is so much symbolism about frogs coming from ppl's mouths or the sword of the Spirit coming from the Lord's mouth.. those are all symbolic of words.. lies and truth. Rather than giving creedence to who someone is as to how much truth is in what they say.. we need to measure all things directly to the Word of God and seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit.. both..the Word and the Spirit.. as it is, ppl so often base truth on how much they like a person, or whether they are family, or how much weight their title carries.. being sure we don't make truth a single verse, but consider the whole of the character of God according to both Word and Spirit... they will speak peace when sudden destruction is coming.. and Scripture also warns, "For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect." (Matt 24).. don't base things on signs and healings and wonders.. they are about to be unleashed in huge ways, but like all things, the enemy always tries to counterfeit what God is doing. We need to draw near to God now and to study and to know his Word while it is day.. cuz the night is coming, and is among us already.
